SIX DIFFERENT WAYS

Through photography and sculpture, Six Different Ways explores the complementary qualities of constructed space and introspection. This series of works allowed me to break from formal representations of figuration in sculpture and engage with viewers through a more performative prism. The works serves as a philosophical counterpart for Six Different Green Ways which addresses what might be deemed the more alien and random qualities of plant growth tendencies-namely geotropism.

The  formal element of this series was inspired in part by the works of Sol LeWitt as well as the collaborations that took place between sculptor Anthony Gormley and the choreographer Akram Khan, particularly when considering how suspended states of being, and the immediate need for action and performance could be viewed as dual sides of the same search for truth, perfection and free expression.
