Forbidden Fruit is a video piece that recounts the Greek myth of Persephone. In this version, she is cautioned and reprimanded for her decision to eat of the forbidden fruit of Hades. This Greek myth however has an added twist on the Christian allegory of Eve that goes beyond the morality of a paternalistic god. As newly crowned empress of the underworld, Persephone remains immortal and her subjects in Hades more numerous than those of any other kingdom. If anything, her power as an immortal to deliver souls or keep forever in her kingdom is only confirmed and her life becomes so much exciting for it! This piece examines the idea that there is a pagan morality at the heart of all things supposedly Christian, a shared complicity for exploring our universe with a curiosity that defies moral codes.
